Cargo Van Costs

The cost for reliable carpet cleaning vans varies across manufacturer and age of the van. Newer vans are always preferred but can be expensive for the first time operator. There are plenty of used vans on the market but ‘buyer beware. These vans are workhorses and most likely have already seen a lot of heavy duty. Skimping on price is not recommended as this is one of the most important components of your carpet cleaning business.

The decision of which van should be made in conjunction with the type and age of the cleaning equipment it will carry. It’s usually a good idea to insure that the useful life of the van is greater than the useful life of the cleaning equipment to avoid having to move all the equipment into a new van. Many carpet cleaning equipment companies will sell their equipment pre-installed in a specific type of van. This is a good option for new businesses as it simplifies the start-up process and enables the new owner to focus on finding customers vs. configuring the van and the cleaning equipment. Also, many used vans are available with the cleaning equipment already installed. These can be a cost effective way to start your new business. However, you must be sure to evaluate the van and equipment separately to insure your getting what you need.

Typical costs for the van alone are detailed in the tables below as quoted from Edmund’s. Even if you are buying a van already equipped, you should know how the price breaks down between the van and the cleaning equipment to insure you’re getting a fair price.

  • Great post – these numbers are right in line with what we see on our site, perhaps a little higher. But of course the quality and shape of the vehicles varies drastically, as does the equipment that is included (ie. truckmounts, etc). Great post, very interesting stuff!
